I help businesses and nonprofits to get clear on their goals, and to lay down a path to progress towards those goals through the medium of digital communications and marketing.
In the past I’ve worked for some of Ireland’s leading charities and brightest digital media startups, and I now freelance with organisations of all levels in the tech, tourism, training, consulting, finance and charity sectors.
At the core of everything I do is navigating the way for you through the rapidly changing and often confusing reality of online communications.
If it’s online – website content, user experience, search engine optimisation and advertising, social media, email marketing and communications – I can advise you on the best way to make the web work for you.
Through all my work, I aim to succeed in twin goals:
Achieve your business goals
Ensuring a better-than-satisfactory experience for your audience, whatever the medium
All of my work now is driven by my personal story.
I lived with depression for more than 20 years. I wasn’t diagnosed until 2014, and for the next two years I tried my best to function while keeping my situation hidden from view.
None of that worked, so in 2016 I made a conscious decision – hiding my depression wasn’t doing much to help it, so I decided instead to talk about my depression.
Honest, empowering conversations started happening everywhere, and I made new friendships all over the world. My new friends all have these things in common: they recognize struggle, suffering and pain, and in me, I think, they saw someone to share their journey with.
My new friends have dealt with depression, anxiety, neurosis, multiple sclerosis, addiction, diabetes, and more.
In November 2017 I started a project about happiness – what it is, how to find it, how to recognise it when it arrives, how to encourage happiness in others (either one to one, or in our communities).
The happiness project is two separate emails: one (my happiness bulletin) goes out every Saturday morning. The second (longer, including an article and round-up of the best happiness-building content from around the web) goes out on the first Friday of every month.
